The latest leader to once again make a promise that the government would find a solution to the mining stalemate in the state is Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik who declared that “a solution will be declared to the people of Goa by February 15.”

Speaking on the sidelines of the second World Integrated Medicine Forum in the city, Naik informed media persons that BJP national president Amit Shah was looking for a solution to the mining crisis, and that the government would come up with a solution by February 15.

Naik is not the first to promise a solution within a short frame of time this month, with other BJP leaders also promising to do so.

Just last week, when BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain was in the state he said that the government and Prime Minister Modi were “very concerned” about mining dependents and were looking at solutions.

Earlier this month, MGP Minister Sudin Dhavalikar had written to the Prime Minister seeking an appointment to discuss the mining issue “within the next 15 days.” However, the appointment does not seem to have materialised.

Meanwhile, Naik also addressed the question of former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar who had declared he would stand as an independent candidate from Mandrem if the BJP didn’t declare its Mandrem candidate soon.

Naik said that it was for the BJP Goa leaders to decide, but that Parsekar would not be sidelined.
