LONDON
The Goan Community Aberdeen (GCA), a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, celebrated World Goa Day at The Caledonian Golf Club Aberdeen on June 27.
Over 150 members and non-members were present at the event. The chief guests were Lord Provost of Aberdeen Dr David Cameron and Lady Provost Hazel Cameron.
Music was provided by Swindon's upcoming young band ‘Velvet Blues’ and ‘UNA BANDA’ from Aberdeen.
Emcee Tommy Afonso (Jnr Nelson) from London was the host for the night. He introduced the new GCA Treasurer Bonny Gonsalves and GCA Vice-President Cavian Fernandes, who joined GCA earlier this year.
Cavian Fernandes addressed the crowd and reminded them of GCA's mission, to be united in spirit and strengthen Goan traditions, beliefs, and to keep Goa culture alive forever and pass on to future generations in Aberdeen.
Goan food was prepared by Kingshill Kitchen Aberdeen.
GCA President Sydon Fernandes concluded the event with thanking everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, and the team for organising and contributing towards its success.
“The GCA will continue to promote Goan culture and help create a vibrant and diverse society in Aberdeen,” said Laura Ferns, Secretary of GCA.
