The Goan Association of New York staged its Hollywood Gala at the World Fair Marina in New York City on May 2.

Led by Goan Association President Melba de Corla Souza, the event was a sold-out show showcasing the community, culture, and glamour.

Melba welcomed the guests and introduced her hardworking ‘Hollywood’ committee. The Master of Ceremonies Ralph Dias engaged the gathering with his charm and wit. He also took the stage for a singing performance along with Dr Mickey D’Costa and the duo had the crowd cheering.

The band ‘Prism’ brought non-stop energy and kept the dance floor packed all night. Guests savoured a spread of Indian and continental food. The centerpieces were made by committee member Michele D’Souza, while Favian Mendes was the photographer at the event.

The highlight of the night was the raffles, with a lot of prizes up for grabs. The star attraction was 2 round-trip tickets to India courtesy of Air India, as well as a 75-inch Samsung smart television. Part of the proceeds would be donated to the Sisters of the Poor in Goa and the association’s other charities in India and in New York.

“From the elegant Hollywood vibe to the music, food, and Goan spirit, the gala was an unforgettable night of fun, charm and celebration. It also kept the spirit of Goenkarponn alive in New York,” said Avril D’Costa, Past President of the Goan Association of New York.
