Sunaparanta, Goa Centre for the Arts in collaboration with Abhivyaktee conducted an intense 15-day theatre workshop for children aged between 10 to 16 yrs. Tiatr as a form of Goa’s Konkani theatre has a strong tradition and is a very popular art form that Sunaparanta supports in several ways. Abhivyaktee has taken up the project of children’s theatre activities and Goa’s traditional art form to inculcate elements of performing arts in order to expose them to various theatre elements. Resource persons, Anagha Deshpande, Saish Deshpande along with Sandip Deshpande and tiatr practitioners Carmin Joseph e Vas (writer/director), Fermino Goes (director/actor) conducted various sessions on character development, body movement, use of Proscenium, voice and speech, improvisations, theatre games, structure and history of tiatr and a special session by Akanksha Parab on ‘Theatre for Personality Development’.
This theatre workshop will culminate in humorous presentations of small skits by the children, based on the various exercises they learnt in the workshop. Special Cantar written by Tina Costa will also be presented by the children as part of training. A special programme has been organised on May 12, 7 pm at Sunaparanta amphitheatre, Altinho.
