Tiatr Mogi
As you sow, so shall you reap. When you are dishonest you can’t expect honesty in return. The law of karma is applicable in life and what you send around will eventually return back to you. The storyline of Milagres de Chandor’s new release Lets Go runs along these lines.
Script
The script is typical. A remake of one of his previous presentation. Here the lead actor is actually the comedian of the tiatr and hence the comedy gets related to the storyline. The other road scene side shows too have a connect to the main story line. There are good cantos too. Well composed. The language of the script is simple and understandable. The storyline is simple and the sequences keep you thinking what could be next but then if you have an audience who witnessed the previous presentation sitting nearby and offering a commentary ‘now this will happen’, the questions posed gets answered before it happens.
Comedy
The presentation has a decent comedy that is incorporated in the main story or plot. The Lead actor is a comedian and so his acts in the lead are of a comic nature. He is joined by other comedians too and the three together do get lethal and devastating. But the best part is that though there is less content of comedy in the tiatr it is watchable by a decent family. No vulgarity or indecent words in the comedy.
Sets
The sets are decent and good enough to carry the story forward. The box files suggest the family status of the ones living in it. However there is no decent furniture in the rich household; neither in Goa nor in United Kingdom. Probably the director thinks that people of Goan origin living presently in the United Kingdom squat on the floor like the North Indians and that with the heavy inward migration of Indians the Portuguese cultured Goans have given up living with furniture around. The blue curtain was not used and that was a welcome relief to the eyes.
Acting
The tiatr features new comers or rather first timers but they had very less to display in their limited footfall on the stage. The majority of dialogues lay in the cupboard of the director Milagres and his wife and both failed miserably in doing justice. Nato in the lead and Antonette as the female lead were full on and carried their characters responsibly. Pierson was another good actor who was wasted with limited dialogues and footfall. Agostinho and Selvy supported Nato in the road side comedy presentation but for the absence of comedy content in the writing what miracles could they perform?
Music/songs
The band music was good and well played and sounded. The background score too was in good harmony. The tiatr featured a great singing side. The opening by Wilma Peviola Sydelle Serina and their partners was great. There were two duo’s by the singing siblings Wilma and Peviola which were great to the ears. The solo clowns by the new artistes were a true treat to the listeners. Among all, the new singing sensation Sydelle was in great form. Her singing style, voice modulation was at its best. Her songs too were well composed; lyrically and musically rich!
Direction
The small acts of the new artistes needed a little better direction. There was a good combination of technical cast and artistes too.
