Reinventing the charm of old classics

If you revisit the olden times, you would notice that the music of the ’60s and ’70s was intricate and elaborate. In order to test the waters and see if there was space for these genres of music, Classic Circus by Favela was launched recently, and the outcome was overwhelming.

Favela holds the pride of being a pioneer in bringing this good ol’ genre to Goa. The classic circus got the audience grooving in large numbers and was a huge success. Taking inspiration from this, the organisers are back again with another exciting edition of Classic Circus.

This Sunday night promises to be different, as Classic Circus gets set to evolve into something far bigger and better than its first edition and keep adding layers of pure joy as the show goes on. This time, the band has grown in quantity and quality, to bring in a concert-style performance and to give the audience a richer live music experience.

The upcoming edition of Classic Circus at Favela, promises its rendition of new songs and will cover a vast genre of music from musical virtuoso such as Frank Sinatra, Engelbert, Stevie Wonder, Billy Ocean, Elvis Presley, Los Lobos, Billy Joel, Billy Idol, Elton John and many more.

In its efforts to understand Raul’s achievements, the crowd sees him as he sees himself- a musical craftsman who has created a new kind of a classic retro show, experimenting to capture the vagaries of his love for the music of the mid-1960s, with his peers singing along to the good old classics. He has previously worked with renowned Indian composers like Ranjith Barot and Louis Banks.

The band consists of Daryl on the piano, Diego on the bass, Jonathan on the drums, Jules on the guitar and Anika and Sanchia singing to accompany Raul on the lead vocals.

If you want to tap your feet to the music of the 60s and the classics, this show is for you!

Classic circus will be showcased at Favela in Baga from 9 pm onwards this Sunday the August 3.

Head to the North of Goa, Relive and rewind with the golden era of music.
