MARGAO: The ‘Kalarang’ festival of dance, music and theatre will be held from January 8 to 12 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. The festival will be inaugurated by Pallavi Dempo, Director, Dempo Group. Minister for Art and Culture Ramesh Tawadkar will preside over the function in the presence of PWD Minister Digambar Kamat and Vishwas Jadhav, Registrar, ABGM, Vashi. The inauguration will be held on January 8 at 6.15 pm. The festival is organised every year by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, and Kalangan Centre for Performing Arts, and this year marks its 23rd edition. Kalangan will felicitate Pallavi Dempo and Vishwas Jadhav for their contribution to the field of arts.
The opening ceremony will be followed by a Bharata Natyam ballet by Kalangan, Margao, and Artitude, Pune. Highlights include a sitar recital by Asad Khan and a vocal recital by Pt Jayateerth Mevundi on January 9, performances by Mugdha Gaonkar and Ileana Citaristi on January 10, the Marathi play ‘Patra Patri’ on January 11, and the English and Hindi play ‘One on One Dhamaal’ on January 12. The festival is open to the public. Entry to the plays on Sunday and Monday is restricted to those aged 16 years and above.
