A 54-year-old labourer drowned after accidentally falling into a deep well at Munang-vaddo, Assagao on Thursday. The deceased, Chakali Balaraj, a native of Telangana, was reportedly cutting grass near the well when he slipped and fell in. The well lacked basic protective measures such as a retaining wall, fencing or a net cover, making the spot unsafe. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are conducting further inquiries.
