Senior journalist Jyoti YL associated with the People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI) will deliver a lecture focusing on reporting the lives and struggles of India’s most marginalised communities, highlighting the importance of reporting from rural and under-represented regions at the Museum of Goa in Pilerne, on August 24 at 11.30 am. Jyoti has reported extensively on the displacement of families, loss of livelihoods, the demolition of schools, and the impact of development projects on rural and tribal communities. Her work has documented the lives of Bhil women in Nandurbar, nomadic families in Amravati, (both regions in Maharashtra) children with disabilities during the Covid-19 pandemic, and tribal women forced into strenuous labour for survival. The talk will explore on how policy decisions often leave the vulnerable further behind.
