Vilas Morje, who was elected unopposed as sarpanch of Morjim on Monday, has assured a smart library in Morjim, as well as mobile toilets and better parking facilities for tourists visiting the coastal village. Vilas Morje was elected sarpanch at a special meeting in the panchayat office, following the resignation of former sarpanch Pawan Morje as part of a mutual agreement among the ruling group of panchas. Those present on the occasion included Deputy Sarpanch Supriya Pokhe, former sarpanchas and panchas Surekha Shetgaonkar, Mukesh Gadekar, Mandar Pokhe, and panch Photu Shetgaonkar. The only panch member who remained absent was Swapnil Shetgaonkar. Later, speaking to media persons, Vilas Morje said a smart library will be set up shortly near the market in Morjim as part of the Deendayal Yojana. “The tourism season will start soon, and a large number of domestic and foreign tourists will visit our coastal village. To facilitate those tourists, mobile toilets will be set up on the beach, while parking facilities will also be provided for tourists,” he said. The new sarpanch also hoped to resolve the issue of a public crematorium for Morjim village, as the matter is presently in court
