The election was conducted by Extension Officer of the Block Development Office, Mapusa, Murari Varadkar, with assistance from Panchayat Secretary Jnyanesh Khorjuvekar. As only one nomination was received, Namrata Vijay Chodankar was declared elected unopposed.
Porvorim: Namrata Vijay Chodankar has been elected unopposed as Sarpanch of the Village Panchayat of Salvador do Mundo. The post fell vacant after Bindiya Bhagwant Naik resigned two months ago for personal reasons. The Block Development Officer, Mapusa, convened a meeting on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, at 10 a.m. at the panchayat office in Salai to elect a Sarpanch.
Five panchayat members attended the meeting: Roshni Savoikar, Namrata Vijay Chodankar, Rajesh Savoikar, Krishnakant Chodankar and Bindiya Bhagwant Naik. Four members”Rakhi Sandeep Salgaonkar, Reena Fernandes, Vijay Dalvi and Dattaram Redkar”were absent.
