Dalgado Konknni Akademi celebrated the 80th birthday of poet and tiatrist Cirilo D Fernandes with the release of his 9th book of poetry in the presence of Fr Anthony Rodrigues, Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Church, Benaulim. The book ‘Maim Mhaka Gõy Zai’ has 101 poems and was released at the hands of Fr Anthony. DKA president Vincy Quadros, vice president Daniel F de Souza, secretary William Fernandes, treasurer Celso Fernandes, executive members - Pio Esteves and Savio Pinto, Fr Milagres Dias, Fr Andrew Mascarenhas, Joaquina S Fernandes and close relatives of the poet. The function was held at the residence of the poet at Benaulim. Fr Anthony felicitated Cirilo with a memento and a shawl and acknowledged the good work of this poet who kept alive his mother tongue Konkani even at this old age. Fr Anthony also appreciated DKA for their untiring work in the field of Romi Konkani. The DKA president also addressed the gathering. The programme was organized under the DKA’s ‘Mhalgoddea Boroinnarancho Bhouman Yeuzonn’ (Felicitation of Senior Writers Scheme). Cirilo has nine books to his credit “ Soddear Vompil'li Jinn, Mhojea Bannavle Ganvant, Veson, Veson, He Jinnent Kanttech Kantte, Conductor Pirluk Mar, Mhojea Bannavlechim Adlim Kazaram, Mhojea Bannavle Ganvant, and the ninth book which was released on the occasion - ‘Maim, Mhaka Gõy Zai’.
