Carmelite Monastery concludes Marian month

The Carmelite Monastery, Margao concluded the Marian month with great devotion and pomp on May 31. The last day of May is celebrated as the feast of the Visitation and there was a solemn mass at 6 pm. The statue of Our Lady of Fatima was brought in procession by the Carmel Youth. Rev Fr Anthony D'Souza OCD was the main celebrant while Fr Silvestre D'souza, Superior of the Carmelites at Margao, conceleberated the mass. At the end of the mass, the children led the recitation of the Rosary. Each decade was offered for one continent and a specific intention. The programme ended with the Act of Entrustment to the Immaculate Heart of Mary composed by Pope Francis. A children's choir animated the whole liturgy.

PANAJI: South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) organised a rally to commemorate “World No Tobacco Day” on Tuesday at Margao. The programme was attended by Chairman of Margao Municipal Council Lyndon Pereira, Medical superintendent of SGDH Dr Deepa Correia, District Nodal Officer NTCP Dr Sara George and Extension Educator Vishal Gaonkar.
