Dalgado Konknni Akademi will felicitate Willy Goes on the occasion of his 60th birthday on March 28 at 4:00 pm at Art & Culture Multipurpose Hall, Patto, Panaji. Shailendra Mehta, poet, writer & TV personality will be the chief guest. Willy Goes is a senior Konkani writer who has penned down nine books so far, out of which two are in English. He has written about hundred short stories in Konkani and in English. He contributes regularly towards Gulab monthly magazine and Goa Today and has written weekly columns for Sunaprant. He also contributes to Gõycho Pormoll and Parish bulletin. He holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and is presently Head of Department of Applied Art at Goa College of Art, Panaji. Willy Goes has served as a member of the Konkani Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi from 2008 to 2012. He is also the former President of the Alto Betim Chapter of Junior Chamber International and Panjimites Welfare Association. His books are as follows; Konkani novels ‘Altoddi ani Poltoddi,’ ‘Khand,’ ‘Kantto,’ ‘Kotrin ani Kapaz Jaki.’ ‘Mon Sanvronam,’ is a collection of short stories in Konkani, and ‘Pedru Tiva,’ is a children’s novelette. ‘Cobo’s Sofa’ and ‘My Husband’s Mysterious Mistress’ are two anthologies of English short stories from Goa. Willy has also presented papers for seminars at state level and national level.
