A solo exhibition of multimedia artworks by Goan artist Divesh Gadekar ‘MAATI “ morphing landscapes’ has been organised at Sadhana Dell’ Arte at Merces. Curated by Leena Vincent the exhibition will be open for public from December 11 to 24 between 11 am to 8 pm. The exhibition of mixed media works and installations by Gadekar showcases the shifting and transforming topography of Goa, in the western coast of the Indian subcontinent. Deeply aware of the changes within the landscapes of Goa, Gadekar has engrained the essence of its organic memory by using soil in his water colour works. He also references other material cultures from his surroundings as well as found objects. “The medium here becomes a metaphor for the endless acts of intrusion human beings place upon the earth. Socio-political conflicts, people's ignorance and apathy and a feeling of helplessness in grasping a time gone by, all feed into his works, as he creates an experiential framework for viewers to enter into,” shares curator Leena Vincent.
