The driver had a lucky escape when an interstate truck loaded with cement sheets and travelling from Pune to Panaji toppled at Malpem-Pernem. The mishap took place on the slope at the Highway in Malpem after the driver lost control of the vehicle because of the uneven road. Locals have complained that this is an accident-prone zone and around two accidents are reported on average every week. They have demanded the completion of ongoing road works before the monsoons.
