PANAJI
An exhibition, 'Negritude' of the works of 26 African American artists in collaboration with 27 Goan artists was inaugurated at the art Gallery of Sanskriti Bhavan in Panaji on Tuesday. The exhibition is open to the public from 10 am to 6 pm till April 8. This is for the first time an exhibition of African American Art has come to India, and Goa is fortunate to be one of the venues in its tour of five states. This exhibition is an initiative of Dr Peggy Blood, the president of the National Alliance of Artists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the USA with an aim to spread awareness about the sufferings of the slavery days, freedom movement, struggle for social justice by Africans in America and its expression in art. The theme of the exhibition is 'To be human: an artist's perception'.
