MARGAO: Star Boys, Sao Jose de Areal pipped Pereira XI, Bagbhatt-Raia 1-0 to enter the quarter-finals of 17th Rebello Pandal All Goa Open football tournament, at St Rita Church ground, Maina-Curtorim, on Wednesday.
In the very first minute of the game, Areal's Nevil Fernandes' shot hit the rival cross bar and went out of play. Thereafter, Pereira XI's Rajot Chopdekar's powerful volley was punched away by Areal goalkeeper Joseph Monteiro.
The all important goal came from the boots Rayman Fernandes of Star Boys Areal in the 56th minute of the game while Kigan and Kenneth of Pereira, efforts to find equaliser but Areal defence stood firm and denied the equaliser.
Rajot Chopdekar was star of the match for Pereira XI who later awarded the man of the match Florian D'Mello club member.
