The District Administration, South Goa celebrated International Women’s Day by conducting a painting competition for students of Higher Secondary Schools followed by a sensitization talk at Mathany Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao.
Shruti Naik student of Chandrabhaga Tukoba Naik Higher Secondary School, Curchorem bagged the first prize in the painting competition while Mevili Velanka Dias, Carmel Higher Secondary School, Nuvem and Nikita Gavde, MES Higher Secondary School, Mormugao bagged second and third prize, respectively. A total of 40 students participated in the competition.
While speaking on the occasion District Collector, South, Ruchika Katyal, IAS said this year’s women’s day theme “Choose to Challenge” is a very apt theme, for as we look at the past we can see that women’s are trying to change the status quo and situations in their life.
Reshma Gurav compered the programme. Additional Collector-II, Agnelo Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
A flash dance giving message of women empowerment was presented by nurses and brothers of Hospicio Hospital, Margao.
