Hemophilia Society Goa observed World Hemophilia Day (May 1) at Bicholim in the presence of Dr Chandrakant Shetye, MLA from Bicholim constituency and Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, recently. Explaining about this bleeding disorder, Prasad Arolkar, president of Hemophilia Society Goa (HSG) urged to create awareness in Bicholim and requested Dr Shetye to start a treatment outlet at the Government Health Centre for patients in his constituency to which Dr Shetye offered assurance. Guruprasad Pawaskar informed about disability rights and assured that there will be a streamlined setup and no child suffering from Hemophilia shall be left without a disability certificate. Blood screening was organised for the women who were present on the occasion by HSG in association with Thyrocare. Scholarships were handed over to the hemophiliacs who answered their board exams this year and sanitary napkins were distributed for all the ladies by Hema Betkekar, head nurse, Sanquelim PHC.
