Two vehicles were gutted in fire at Sulabhat-Agassaim in the wee hours of Saturday, with arson being suspected behind the incident.
According to Old Goa fire personnel, a call was received at 2 am on Saturday that two vehicles, a Wagon R and Mahindra rickshaw, had caught fire near Mahadev temple, Sulabhat-Agassaim.
“A fire tender rushed to the site and were able to douse the fire in half an hour. However by then, the damage was done and the vehicles were gutted in the fire,” a fireman informed The Goan.
Though the cause of the fire has not been ascertained, arson was suspected to be behind the incident and the Old Goa fire officials have written to the Agassaim police and the RTO Panaji to investigate the matter to ascertain the exact cause.
Duty officer Amit Rivonkar, driver operator Ramesh Virdikar, firefighters Datta Sinari, Vinayak Ugvekar, Shivanand Gavade and Gautam Pednekar participated in the firefighting operation.
