The Diocesan Youth Centre organised the ‘Nature A-Live’ programme on October 10-11 at Loutolim, Goa, bringing together 43 young participants from different parishes for a nature-based experience. Centred on the theme ‘Conserving Goan Lands’, the programme aimed to create awareness about the different types of land in Goa and the importance of conserving them. Resource person Fr Anthony Carvalho, Convenor of the Diocesan Commission for Ecology and Chaplain of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, Bhironda, enlightened the participants on various activities that could be undertaken in collaboration with local communities and youngsters to utilise Goa’s land resources responsibly. Resource Persons Shohail Furtado, youth activist, and Dave, an environmentalist, explained issues concerning Section 39A in Goa and encouraged the youth to understand the importance of land conservation. Another engaging session was conducted by Tejas on types of snakes, common myths surrounding them, identification, and snakebite first aid. The programme also included group activities followed by a hands-on cooking experience at a local farm owned by Caitan.
