A New Vaddem-based social activist Vinod Kinlekar on Sunday carried out the patch up works on an internal road at New Vaddem.
Kinlekar speaking to media said that the patch up works was taken up as a temporary solution after the road had developed some potholes which was posing danger to motorists.
“This is a very busy internal road because this road is linked to the Goa Shipyard Limited and is a shortcut road for many. The potholes on this road are extremely dangerous and while this may not be an issue for four-wheelers, two-wheelers face grave danger and there is every chance of the two-wheeler skidding and riders falling. A senior citizen in our area put up pictures of the road on social media and it went viral, we friends decided to do some thing about it. We also know that the council would be dissolved soon and the active councillors would be out of action and it may be long before works can be taken up. We are greatful to Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho who has assured to take up the works of the road. However on the request of some senior citizens, we decided to get some cement, a mason and patch up the road as a temporary solution,” said Kinlekar.
