AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre criticised the alleged spree of land conversions undertaken by the BJP-led State government and dared the administration to explain the same.
“During this ongoing pandemic where we have lost more than 500 Goans and a series of scams have been unearthed, the BJP government in the State is busy conducting surveys to convert lands in Goa and not how to better the situation,” Mhambre accused.
AAP criticised the notification published by the Town and Country Planning Department in all the leading dailies for 16 B Zone Conversion list without owners names and without the area measurement of the area to be converted. “I hope the panchayats are taking note of what’s happening in their villages,” Mhambre said while alleging that the government is hiding something.
It was pointed out that over 1,000 applications for land conversion have been approved by the TCP minister in the last one year even while the pandemic rages on.
“During the lockdown the central government gave the environmental clearance for cutting of thousands of trees through Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary for the projects of coal and double-tracking which are not in the interest of Goa and Goans while the Sawant-led government remained a mute spectator,” Mhambre charged.
