Awareness talk conducted at SCERT on organ donation

PANAJI

Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, conducted an awareness session on organ donation at SCERT, Porvorim on February 14 . He engaged the staff with questions, first asking if organs could be donated after death at home. Most said yes, but he clarified that only tissue donation ” skin, eyes, and whole-body donation ” is possible in such cases. He then asked how many arrived on two-wheelers and if they wore helmets consistently or only when traffic police were present. He stressed proper helmet use to prevent serious injuries. Pereira introduced himself and the MOHAN Foundation, sharing his personal connection to transplantation. He highlighted that one ‘yes’ to organ donation could save eight lives and improve over 50 lives through tissue donation. Using a PowerPoint, he explained organ donation after brain death and the allocation process. Around 20 staff members attended. He thanked Meghana Shetgaokar, SCERT Director, and the staff for supporting the MOHAN Foundation’s awareness efforts.
