Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao on Tuesday laid foundation stone for laying underground electrical cables at Macazana, stating that this will give major relief to people as it will provide an uninterrupted power supply to consumers by strengthening the power network.
Alemao said that the current 10 transformers at Macasana will be upgraded to 200 KVA from 100 KVA, and two additional transformers will be installed, one in Modsai and the other in Sorla.
“This work is expected to be completed by April 2025. So there will be no power cuts during monsoon. This project will provide safe, reliable electricity services and uninterrupted power supply by strengthening the infrastructure through underground technology. This will be a major relief to the people of Macasana,” Alemao said.
The leader of opposition said that he has focused on the basic necessity for the people of Cuncolim and hence underground electrical cabling has been started.
“During the rainy season incidents occur of falling trees on overhead electrical wires. Hence people face power cuts. Once this project is complete people t will get major relief,” he said.
Alemao said that for at least the next 30 years people will not face such problems after the underground cable network is completed in the constituency.
He appealed to people to bear the inconvenience on roads, which will be dug for laying cables.
“I assure that once this work is completed all the roads will be repaired for the smooth vehicular movement,” Alemao said.
