Lions Club of Canacona & Leo Club of Canacona celebrated International Literacy Day with the inauguration of Project PUSTAK with distribution of books to needy students in Canacona. As September 8 was announced as International Literacy Day by Unesco in 1966 to remind the international community of the importance of literacy for individuals, communities and societies, and the need for intensified efforts towards more literate societies. Distribution of books to the needy students in Canacona was done on the occasion in different Villages at Canacona. On this day around 32 children from Canacona benefitted from this Project PUSTAK with books and stationery distributed with the sole aim to spread knowledge and light of literacy amongst every needy Child. Lion Patricia Mendonca e Torres, President of Lions Club of Canacona thanked all for supporting this cause and also Leo Deepa Gosavi, President of Leo Club of Canacona along with Leo Adonna Barretto, Secretary and her Leo team supported by Lions Club of Canacona who made this project a success.
