CES College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim won Men, while, defending champions Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem won the women Kho-Kho Championship 2023-24, organised by Goa University, at Goa University ground, Taleigao held from January 9 to 11.
In the well contested men’s championship finals, CES College, Cuncolim defeated Government College, Quepem with a final score 48-34.
In the women’s championship finals, Government College, Quepem defeated Shree Mallikarjun & Shri Chetan Manju Desai College Arts and Commerce, Canacona with a final score 34-18.
Earlier in the semi-finals of the women’s section, Shree Mallikarjun College, Canacona defeated Government College of Commerce and Economics, Borda with a score of 34-14 and Government College, Quepem defeated CES College, Cuncolim with a score 24-8.
In the men’s semi-finals, CES College, Cuncolim defeated Shree Mallikarjun College, Canacona with a score of 38-32 and Government College, Quepem defeated Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Khandola with a score of 30-16.
The best men player was awarded to Sanket Velip of CES College, Cuncolim while best women player was bagged by Ankita Velip of Government College Quepem.
A total of 12 men’s and 11 women’s teams participated in the three-day championship.
Chief Guest Dr Rajan Mathews, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, Government College, Quepem and Guest of Honor Caitano Clemento, SAG Kho-Kho coach along with Balachandra Jadar, Asst. Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners ups.
