Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav celebrated his birthday by launching the Gomati Foundation, to promote social welfare initiatives in Mormugao taluka.
The Foundation was inaugurated by Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho in the presence of State BJP President Damu Naik and Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, along with local leaders, panch members, social workers and a large gathering of residents. As part of the inaugural programme, a newly developed Government school premises was dedicated to students, while a free ambulance service was flagged off under the Gomati Foundation.
One of the Foundation's most significant announcements was its commitment to sponsor the complete education of ten students from economically weaker families every year. The beneficiaries will be selected from different parts of Mormugao Taluka, with the initiative aimed at ensuring that financial constraints do not become a barrier to quality education. A blood donation camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from volunteers, while a large-scale tree plantation drive was organised under the nationwide Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign to promote environmental conservation and increase green cover in the region.
