A new chapter has been added to public transport in Goa with the commissioning of electric public transport buses. The buses worth Rs 2 crore each have been added to the Kadamba Transport Corporation limited fleet. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday flagged off these public transport electric buses.

The fleet of the first 30 electric buses will run on state roads from April 1 and an additional fleet of 20 electric buses will be added soon. These electric buses have been deployed by Olectra Greentech Limited.

The buses have been procured under FAME INDIA II Scheme. Union Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Prakash Javdekar joined the launch via video conferencing.
