Facilities needed for health workers testing positive: Ex-Velsao panch

VASCO

Amid reports that doctors, nurses and medical staff have tested positive for Covid, former Velsao panch and social worker Roquezinho D’Souza has requested the State government to have a quota of beds, medications and oxygen for health workers who are at the highest risk of contracting Covid while serving people in hospitals.

"Health workers are at the highest risk of contacting Covid and we may face a situation of required infrastructure and oxygen but less doctors and medical staff. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the health minister must have a provision to treat such health workers if they test positive," said D’Souza.

D’Souza also suggested that the government must make arrangements to have more doctors and medical staff on standby.

“This is necessary so that if the present doctors and staff test positive, other doctors and staff are deputed on rotation to relieve extra burden and pressure," said D’Souza.
