The Goa State Council for Science and Technology, Saligao, Bardez is presently assigned with the task of Registration of Geographical Indication for the State of Goa and has filed application for Goa Mankur Mango and is presently working on the Mangelar and Mussarat Mango.
Goa State Council of Science & Technology has informed that the Department wants to form one association of all above mango producers and local sellers and thus it is proposed to organize one meeting of farmers presently involved in the growing of Goa Mankur, Mangelar and Mussarat mangoes. Considering the ongoing SOPs of Covid -19, the meeting may be offline or online depending on the response received, to elect an adhoc committee to initiate the required process for filling GI application. In view of the same, concerned farmers along with local traders may please furnish their names through SMS/ whatsapp or call the project in charge Deepak Parab on 983453931 so that they can be involved in the process of association formation. The association will be open for membership and after completion of one year a regular committee will be elected in the special annual general meeting to take the GI process further.
