The Goa Union of Journalists condoled the death of Danish Siddiqui, an award-winning Indian photojournalist working with Reuters.
Siddiqui, 41, was killed in the ‘Taliban crossfire’ on Friday while covering a fierce clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban fighters in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar. The Mumbai-based photojournalist was on an assignment embedded with Afghan security forces, who were fighting to reclaim the market area of Spin Boldak.
Siddiqui was part of the Reuters team that won a Pulitzer Prize for its coverage on Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. He was also part of the Reuters team that covered the Canacona building collapse in 2014 and the BRICS summit held in Goa in 2016. The Goa Union of Journalists has conveyed its deepest sympathies to his family.
