Bank of Maharashtra tops list of PSU
lenders in credit growth in Q2
PANAJI: The Pune-headquartered lender recorded a 28.62 per cent increase in gross advances to Rs 1,48,216 crore at the end of Sep 2022, making it the top performer among the public sector lenders, according to published quarterly numbers of the public sector banks (PSBs).
In terms of total business growth BoM registered a growth of 15.92 per cent for the Q2-2022-23 half yearly period with total business of Rs 3,44,065 crore. With regard to deposit growth, BoM witnessed a 7.86 per cent growth and mobilised Rs 1,95,849 crore at the end of September 2022.
BoM stood fifth in terms of total deposit growth among the PSBs for the period.
However, in terms of Low-cost CASA deposit BoM topped the chart with 56.27 per cent followed by Central Bank of India with 50.99 per cent.
During the September quarter, public sector banks raked in more profits on the back of a persistent decline in bad loans, and the trend may have a positive bearing on their balance sheets in the coming quarters.
BoM and SBI with 3.55 per cent Net Interest Margin (NIM), a key profitability parameter, stood at top among PSBs. It was followed by Bank of India at 3.49% and Central Bank of India at 3.44 per cent.
Naval band to play at various locations in State
VASCO: As part of Navy Week activities, the Naval Band road show will be conducted by Indian Navy Ceremonial Band at Kranti Maidan, Ponda on Wednesday, Mall de Goa, Porvorim, on Thursday and Vasco Bus Stand on Friday.
The Band will play various patriotic tunes from 6 pm onwards. People are welcome to visit the venues and enjoy the music.
Sea Vigil initiative underway in State
VASCO: Sea Vigil 22 was initiated early morning of Tuesday and is planned over the next two days to establish a robust coastal defence and coastal security setup alongside all central and state security agencies.
Indian Naval and Coast Guard vessels along with aerial assets were deployed along the coast for a layered security setup. Goa state security police and fisheries department along with CISF and Customs are patrolling closer to the coast and maintaining an up-to-date maritime domain awareness.
Also, security audits of high value assets and points are being undertaken during the exercise by various agencies to improve and enhance security setup along the Goa coast.
Governor to tour Salcete on Nov 17
Panaji: Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai will tour Salcete Taluka (Navelim constituency) on November 17 as part of his ‘Goa Sampurna Yatra’.
In the morning he will visit the Shree Damodar Sal Temple, Margao, where Shri Swami Vivekanand had stayed during his visit to Goa. He will then visit the Navelim Church of Our Lady of Rosary to pray and seek blessings.
He will then participate in the meeting and interaction with Sarpanchas and members of village panchayats of Rumdamol-Davorlim, Davorlim-Dicarpale, Aquém-Baixo, Navelim and Telaulim at the Navelim panchayat hall, where he will also disburse financial assistance to dialysis/cancer patients.
CMS Polyclinic holds free camp in Sangolda
PANAJI: The CMS Polyclinic and Pharmacy at Sangolda, in collaboration with Saligao MLA Kedar Naik organised a free medical camp on November 13.
As many as 128 patients attended the camp and sought the consultation with doctors from various specialities like ENT, skin, ophthalmology, gynaecology, surgery, dentistry, orthopaedic, pulmology, cardiology, general medicine speciality. Blood tests, X-Ray, ECG were conducted with a 50 per cent discount to patients.
Saligao MLA Kedar Naik, Reis Magos ZP member Sandeep Bandodkar and Pilerne Dy Sarpanch Amarnath Govekar were also present at inaugural function.
The CMS Polyclinic and Pharmacy is managed by noted paediatrician Dr Pinky Paliencar.
Artist Suryavanshi to be felicitated on Nov 20
PANAJI: Noted artist Parashuram Appaji Suryavanshi will be felicitated on November 20 at 5 pm at Pernem Shetkari Society auditorium. ‘Ujjwal Kal’ campaign launched
