SCM to hold silent protest in Margao  

MARGAO: The Shadow Council for Margao along with citizens has decided to hold a silent protest near the dumping site between District Court and Shetye Steels in Margao on Monday at 10am.  

SCM Convenor Savio Coutinho has requested the citizens to join in a silent protest against the destruction of environment and ecology.  

“This protest is to draw the attention of the High Court on account of the blatant misuse and misinterpretation of its directions,” Coutinho said.  

The protesters will cover their mouths with black cloth or black masks, Coutinho added.  

Multispecialty ayurveda camp held at Curtorim

MARGAO: A Multispecialty Ayurveda Camp was held at Housing Board Gogol in Curtorim constituency by World Ayurveda Foundation in association with BJP Curtorim Mandal. The camp was inaugurated by Goa state convener for WAC Dr Sneha Bhagwat Ward number 25 Councillor Babita Naik, BJP curtorim leader Anthony Barbosa, Mandal President Nilkanth Ekwade, PHC curtorim health officer Dr Vallabh Nadkarni, mahila Morcha president Babita Borkar and others. 

The facilities provided at the camp were breast check up, bone mineral density testing by World Ayurveda Congress and sugar check up and medicines by PHC curtorim. This is perhaps the first time such a camp was organised in this area. A total of 160 patients took benefits of this camp. A short briefing about important aspects of World Ayurveda Congress was given by Dr Sneha Bhagwat.   

Faculty Training Programme held at Carmel College  

PANAJI: Research is an important part of the National Education Policy. In order to promote research among the faculties, Research, Development and Innovation Cell of Carmel College of Arts Science and Commerce for Women conducted a Faculty Training Programme wherein an interactive session was organised on ‘Research Publication and Publication Ethics’. 

 The session was held on November 14. The resource person was Dr Keshav Dhuri, Assistant Director at Directorate of Higher Education (DHE). Dhuri holds a PhD in the area of Library and Information Science. Dhuri elaborated on various plagiarism softwares and their uses during his talk. 

He guided the participants in identifying clone/predatory journals, SCOPUS and UGC Care listed journals. He even introduced the features of ORCID id and enlightened the participants about the benefits of using Google Scholar account. The session was informative and interactive. Around seventy faculty members benefited from this programme.    

Medical camps held in Curchorem  

PANAJI: Vishesh and Vrishti Naik in association with Curchorem Health Centre organised medical camps on the occasion of their birthdays recently. The camps were held at Shirfod and Baagwada. A large number of people visited the camps to partake in the camps.
