MARGAO: Karuna Football Foundation from Goa were recognised at the India International Centre in New Delhi for the exceptional impact the foundation has had through sports in the nation in the last decade.
The Mahatma Award, for Social Good and Impact for Good Health and Well Being through Sports was presented to the foundation among the many awards which are known as one of the highest honors globally.
The Karuna Football Foundation better known as Compassion FC among sporting circles in India today had among others from Goa the most renowned Padma Vibhushan Dr. Raghunath Anant Mashelkar who was also awarded Lifetime Achievement.
From the over 1000 nominations received by the Mahatma Foundation, 360 were short listed for the Jury interview rounds to finalise the award.
The over a decade of work done by the Goan Foundation mainly focused on Sports including football, volleyball and athletics has done a lot of work in the social sphere as well.
