Congress South district party vice-president Deepak Kharangate is the new Sarpanch of the village Panchayat of Paroda.
In the elections held on Monday, Deepak was declared elected unopposed after the presiding Officer received his lone nomination paper for the vacant post.
Elections for the post of Paroda Sarpanch has been necessitated following the ouster of outgoing Sarpanch Inacio Tereza in a no confidence motion.
After the election, Deepak informed that he would accord top priority for the clearance of the files pertaining to the Finance Commission so that the work would be executed at the earliest.
The new Sarpanch said he would seek the help of the local MLA Clafacio Dias to bring in development of the village.
After his election, the Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias wished the new Sarpanch and offered his cooperation. Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat along with district Congress Chief Joe Dias also wished Deepak after his election as Paroda sarpanch.
