An unknown man entered into a house and raped a 22-year-old married woman in Assagao in the wee hours of Wednesday, Anjuna Police said.
The police said the strongly built man aged around 35-40 entered the house at around 1 am, where the victim along with her two kids was asleep.
According to police, the woman along with her husband and two children were staying in a property as caretakers.
On Tuesday night, the security guard was on leave while the woman’s husband went to Arpora.
Police said the unknown accused entered into the house while the victim was sleeping with her kids and threatened to kill her and sexually assaulted her.
Soon after the suspect left the house, the victim narrated her ordeal to her husband who rushed home. The police was informed and a complaint was lodged.
Acting on the complaint, Anjuna police registered an offence under Section 376 and 506 (ii) of the IPC against unknown person.
PSI Mahesh Kerkar is investigating further.
