MMC councillor wants ward-wise vaccine drive

VASCO

Newly elected Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) councillor Girish Borker has appealed to the health department to take up mass vaccination of people and to have a decentralised ward-wise vaccine drive.

"We have seen a lot of cases in recent times and also a lot of deaths. We have seen that venues have been changed for vaccinations because of a large rush of people and we still have another slot for the 18+ people which will further increase the rush.”

“We can always have a ward-wise vaccination drive so that the process is decentralised and authorities can cover more people in society for the vaccination," said Borkar.

“Every municipal ward and a panchayat ward has an elected representative and every ward also has a temple or a huge hall where vaccination can be taken up. This will help in mass vaccination if all wards are simultaneously taken up,” said Borkar.
