A student from a poor family in Parsem secured 96% at the SSC exams and is reported to have stood first in Pernem taluka. Namrata Salgaonkar, a student of the Parsem High School, has no father and lives with her mother and grandmother. Her poor economic status did not stop her from excelling in studies. Moved by her plight and proud of her success, Goa Forward Party leader Deepak Kalangutkar, Parsem Panch Arun Parsekar, Nilesh Kalangutkar, Mahesh Kambli and Snehal Parsekar felicitated Namrata at her residence and assured support for her higher education.
