PANAJIA Jesuit priest with a doctorate in Islamic Studies will speak on Christian-Muslim relations during a two-day online talk on 'An introduction to Islam' hosted by Collaborative Learning Cafe (CLC) on March 27 and 28 from 6.30 pm to 8 pm. This is a new initiative by the CLC as part of a series to build understanding among different faith groups. The speaker will be Joseph Victor Edwin SJ, a Jesuit priest who has a PhD in Islamic Studies from the Jamia Millia Islamia, the New Delhi-based century-old university. The event is open and free, but registration is required via https://cutt.ly/Clc_IntroToIslam/
The talk gives non-Muslims a chance to understand the religion, and for members of that faith to dialogue with others. It will focus on the basic tenets of Islam, ie the declaration of faith (shahada), prayer (salah), alms-giving (zakat), fasting (sawm) and pilgrimage (hajj), the religion's relationship with Christianity, peace and harmony.
