The investigations into the alleged Rs 400 crore IDC scamhas apparently slowed down, even as the vigilance department had recentlyregistered an FIR based on a complaint filed by the IDC.
Surprisingly the vigilance department failed to file an FIRwhen the first complaint was filed before them by Kashinath Shetye, SudipTamankar and others in February 2012.
The vigilance department registered an FIR in the case onlyon August 18 based on a complaint filed by IDC law officer, Mandar Shirodkar.
It may be noted while the IDC law officer sought to file acomplaint on unknown persons, Kashinath and company had named several persons,including former chief ministers Pratapsingh Rand and Luizinho in theircomplaint.
Kashinath Shetye and others have approached the High Courtrequesting it to quash the FIR registered on the complaint filed by the IDC lawofficer.
The High Court has served notices to ACB and the nexthearing is scheduled on October 1.
“We have requestedthe HC to quash the FIR because we were the first complainants and in ourcomplaint the same IDC law officer is named as an accused on corruption chargesin the land scam,” said Sudip Tamankar one of the petitioner.
Shetye said that in their complaint they had mentioned allnames of the accused involved in the alleged scam including former chiefminister Pratapsingh Rane, then industries minister Luizinho Faleiro, IDCchairman Chandrakant Kavlekar and others.
“It is quite baffling that Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikarwho was then opposition leader had filed a complaint to Director General ofPolice on December 2, 2011 mentioning names of alleged accused includingPratapsingh Rane, Luizinho Faleiro and Chandrakant Kavlekar and others. But nowhis Corporation is filing a complaint to ACB against unknown people,” saidTamankar.
According to the petitioners the ACB has done itintentionally in order to shield the accused in the investigation and to makethe case weak.
The chief minister is not serious to nab the accused personsinvolved in the scam. It is also an attempt to save Babu Kavlekar andPratapsingh Rane from the scam, Tamankar said.
