The International Centre Goa’s ICG discussion forum will host a discussion on ‘New and Old issues in International Higher Education’ by Professor Simon Marginson, University of Oxford. The editor-in-chief of the journal Higher Education and director of the ESRC/OFSRE Centre for Global Higher Education (CGHE), Prof Simon will discuss with ICG director Dr Pushkar on Zoom Live on September 23 at 4.30 pm. Prof Simon will take up the growing importance of online education and to a lesser extent non-degree education and non-traditional degrees; the rising cost of traditional college degrees; the emergence of alternative higher education providers; the disappearance of many kinds of jobs due to technology and others.Prof Simon’s research is primarily on global and international higher education, higher education in East Asia, the public and social contributions of higher education, and higher education and social equality. Widely published and cited, his most recent books are co-edited volumes Changing Higher Education in India (forthcoming), Changing Higher Education in East Asia (forthcoming) and Changing Higher Education for a Changing World (2020).
