The Red Ribbon Club-GEC was inaugurated in Goa College of Engineering on December 10 in the presence of Dr Geeta Kakodkar- Project director of Goa state AIDS control society, Dr Nutan Dev, paediatrician & ex-head of ID Hospital Ponda, Dr RB Lohani, Principal of GEC and Chairman of RRC-GEC, Prof Ganesh Manerkar-Convenor of RRC-GEC, Jeunesse Fernandes, Assistant Director (Youth Affairs), Umakant Sawant, Assistant Director (IEC) Members of RRC-GEC Advisory committee, faculty staff and students. The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a voluntary on-campus intervention program for students in educational Institutions. Dr Geeta Kakodkar, Project director of Goa state AIDS control society was the chief guest for the ceremony. Dr Geeta in her address urged the youth to be aware about the causes and precaution of AIDS and to spread this awareness to others. Dr Nutan Dev gave a key note address on Sensitization on HIV/AIDS. In her address Dr Dev made the youth aware of the current statistics of AIDS infections in the state, country and globally. She also stressed upon the fact that Red Ribbon club should work towards achieving three zeros-0 deaths,0 infections,0-discrimination.
