A Goan team, Roborex Goa consisting of Ananya Naik, 12, Shounak Hede, 11 and Swayam Kakodkar, 13 was ranked 11th in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) India Nationals in the Junior Category. Roborex Goa was the only team from Goa participating in the championship.
World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is a Global Robotic challenge based competition that helps young people develop their creativity and problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging way. WRO tournaments are organized in over 85 countries worldwide.
In the competition named RoboMission, the students had to design, construct and program an autonomous robot that can solve specific challenges on a field. Because the field is set up randomly each round, the robot needs to be able to make its own decisions during the run. This year, the theme for the Junior Category was “Park and Charge” wherein the participating teams had to built and program a robot that organizes the parking of the cars and brings electric or hybrid vehicles a battery to charge. It took the team over 6 months of dedicated efforts to build the robot.
