Strong winds have blown away portions of a roof at the Goa Cricket Association’s (GCA) indoor cricket practice pitch at the Nirakar ground in Dapot-Maxem.
According to sources, the indoor practice pitch covered with sheets was constructed by GCA about a decade ago.
Strong winds have blown away the roof sheets, exposing the roof at many places and some sheets are dangling in a dangerous manner. This has posed a threat to cricketers who use the indoor pitch and students in the adjacent SS Angle Higher Secondary School who also frequent the grounds. “A lot of youth have been using this indoor pitch. This roof needs immediate repair,” said a local cricketer.
