SANGUEM
Santiksha Gadkar was unanimously elected as chairperson of Sanguem Municipal Council (SMC). Gadkar shall serve in office for the SMC’s remaining term of 15 months. Since no other candidate had filed a nomination, Gadkar was declared elected unopposed as chairperson. The post had fallen vacant after Archana Gaonkar had resigned last month on completion of her agreed term of 15 months. The post of chairperson at the SMC has been reserved for women and with four women councillors in the ruling group, a consensus was agreed to share the post of Chairperson among the four ruling women councillors on rotation basis for 15 months each.
