CANACONA
The BJP Mandal of Canacona celebrated the birth and death anniversary of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee by planting saplings of fruit bearing trees in various parts of Canacona on Sunday.
Deputy speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes who participated in the plantation drive, emphasized the need for growing trees. "Plants and trees give us oxygen, if we need to save Mother Earth, the greenery has to be maintained for our healthy living." The fruit bearing saplings were planted near various polling booths of Loliem, Poinguinim, Khotigao and Gaondongrim Panchayats.
Besides Fernandes, BJP state General Secretary Sarvanad Bhagat spoke about maintaining ecological balance. Those present on the occasion were BJP South Goa Vice-president Mahesh Naik, Canacona BJP Mandal president Nandeep Bhagat, Secretary Damadar Chari, Yuva Morcha President Sanjeev Pagi, Yuva Morcha executive members Ramchandra Naik gaonkar and Prashal Dessai, ZP(Poinguinim) Sobhana Velip, Sarpanch of Loliem-Polem Sachin Pagui, sarpanch of Khotigao Daya Gaonkar, Sarpanch of Gaondongrim Suman Gaonkar, Deputy sarpanch of Poiguinim panchayat Elda, panch members and several BJP booth level leaders and karyakartas.
