Shiksha Vision, Bicholim, in association with Vision Hospital organised a free cataract detection camp at Tari Hall, Bicholim.
Around 307 patients were checked and free medicines were given to them, while a cataract operation will be performed on 90 patients at the Vision Hospital free of cost.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr Dayanand Rao, Dr Chandrakant Shetye, Prashant Chanekar, Dinanath Tari, Narayan Betkikar and Ridhima Pal.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dayanand Rao expressed happiness that Dr Chandrakant Shetye of Vision Hospital had been striving selflessly to provide free eye care facilities to the poor and needy people in villages.
Dr Chandrakant Shetye said such eye camps would be organised in Bicholim taluka in different phases.
“During these camps, the eyes will be checked and cataract operations will be performed free of cost at the Vision Hospital,” said Dr Shetye.
During the medical camp, Dr Chandrakant Shetye was assisted by Dr Venkatesh K, Dr Siddhi Tendulkar, Dr Cleta Braganza, Dr Mayur Patki, Dr Vaishnavi Chanekar, Priya Katkar, Sunita Pal, Sushmita Parab and Mahanand Naik.
