PANAJI: An NGO working for the homeless, abandoned and ailing people in Goa, Street Providence has rehabilitated a sick person from a government hospital, being treated for his sickness for the last seven months. “Few years before he was in our home and then not sure where and what he was doing. Last week District Hospital Mapusa called us saying can we rehabilitate this man which we agreed after they completed all the paperwork and police NOC,” states Donald Fernandes, founder, Street Providence. The man needed rest, nourishment and human touch, which the NGO offered and accepted him. Donald expresses contentment that by receiving messages through WhatsApp he can offer support to the needy.
He says that his NGO has space for another 60 men who may otherwise be suffering on the streets in the summer heat.
Street Providence helps mentally challenged homeless persons who have nowhere to go. The NGO can be contacted on WhatsApp number 8380097564 if any homeless person is seen wandering on the streets. After receiving a picture of the person, photo or video and address of the place, the volunteers of the NGO come to pick up the person, offer support and rehabilitate.
